Head pose estimation for wearable robot control
نویسندگان
چکیده
Recent advances in wearable sensing allow active control of the orientation of a body-mounted camera worn by a remote user. In this paper we consider the control of the active camera from head movements. In the context of teleoperation, these may be the head movements of a remote operator, perhaps acting as the wearer’s assistant. The movements are likely to be larger than those in video-conference applications, and so frontal facial features are insufficient. The paper presents a model which incrementally combines a fixed 3D shape model with specific features found on the observed head. Robust methods, including the incorporation of a colour model, are used to mitigate the effect of mismatching, the main contribution being the use of both interest point and colour features within a single random-sampling framework.

Reduction of Odometry Error in a two Wheeled Differential Drive Robot (TECHNICAL NOTE)
Pose estimation is one of the vital issues in mobile robot navigation. Odometry data can be fused with absolute position measurements to provide better and more reliable pose estimation. This paper deals with the determination of better relative localization of a two wheeled differential drive robot by means of odometry by considering the influence of parameters namely weight, velocity, wheel p...

This paper presents simulation and experimental results of position-based visual servoing control process of a 6R robot using 2 fixed cameras. This method has the ability to deal with real time changes in the relative position of the target-object with respect to robot. Also, greater accuracy and independency of servo control structure from the target pose coordinates are the additional advanta...

Pose estimation is a process to identify how a human body and/or individual limbs are configured in a given scene. Hand pose estimation is an important research topic which has a variety of applications in human-computer interaction (HCI) scenarios, such as gesture recognition, animation synthesis and robot control. However, capturing the hand motion is quite a challenging task due to its high ...
متن کاملActive Vision for Wearables
In this paper we report on our ongoing research on wearable active vision, where we have iteratively prototyped a Wearable Visual Robot — a body mounted robot for which the main sensor is a camera. Two main areas have been studied: robot design and visual algorithms. In the design stage, we have analysed sensor placement through the computation of the field of view and body motion using a 3D mo...

Vision-based Pose Estimation (VPE) represents a non-invasive solution to allow a smooth and natural interaction between a human user and a robotic system, without requiring complex calibration procedures. Moreover, VPE interfaces are gaining momentum as they are highly intuitive, such that they can be used from untrained personnel (e.g., a generic caregiver) even in delicate tasks as rehabilita...
